The largest City in Japan


Tokyo is popularly known as a metropolis rather than being called as a prefecture despite the fact that it is one of Japan’s 47 prefectures. Tokyo’s metropolis’s is composed up of 8 villages, 5 towns, 26 cities, and 23 city wards or the Ku’s. This includes the Ogasawara islands and the Izu and as well as the various pacific islets in island Honshu which is Japan’s southern major island.

The 23 Ku’s or cities is Tokyo’s center which makes up about 1/3 of the metropolis’s area and houses roughly 8th of Tokyo’s 12,000,000.00 inhabitants.

Tokyo, Japan was also known as Edo before the year 1868. Through a small castle town during the 16th century, Edo was Japan’s center of politics during the year 1603 specifically during the time when Tokugawa Ieyasu made his governmental feud in this place.  After some few years, Edo had become one of the most populous cities all over the globe.

During the year 1868, the time of Meiji restoration, the capital was moved from Kyoto into Edo. Edo was then renamed as Tokyo which is now the eastern capital. Through the Great kanto Earthquake during the year 1923 and through the Air Raids in the year 1945, huge parts of Tokyo were destructed.

Tokyo, Japan is a cosmopolitan and a modern city of several and various night and daytime clubs, bars, huge shopping complexes, electronic stores, neon, and skyscrapers. On the other hand, Tokyo is also full of rich tradition and history and the good proof to this are the ryokans or the guest’s houses, public bathhouses, noodles, sushi, temples, and shrines.

Tokyo has tons of historical museums which can range up from the art and history like the traditional up to the parasites or the unusual museums. Some more of the prominent attractions of Tokyo are like the Karaoke bars, boat rides on the Sumida River, and the Tsukiji Fish Market.
